Dad helping B find his name
* Cut crocodiles out of green construction paper and draw eyes and sharp teeth.
* Then, I wrote our family's names on index cards (this is where you'd substitute shapes, colors, letters, numbers, etc.).
* Line up the crocodiles down a hall or long area with the pile of index cards at the end.
* I told B to jump over the crocodiles like Diego and go find his name in the pile. (alternatives: tip toe, skip, bear crawl, bunny hop, etc.) In a dramatic voice I said, "Watch out for their sharp teeth! Don't let them bite your toes." but he said "Mom, they aren't REAL crocodiles!". Ok!
FYI: Paper is slippery on wood floors. I didn't think that through all of the way and B slipped and fell on his first trip down.
oo such a fun game! My son loves to jump away and pretend to be scared of things!

This is a really good idea to make fun go along with learning. Especially if he likes Diego. My little girl loves Dora.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I love the drama you added with your voice too:)
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! I can not wait until my baby is old enough to do these activities!
ReplyDeleteMy son would love this! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for these cold weather-stuck inside days! When my son was younger he thought that he was THAT Diego! :)
ReplyDeleteWe just got your postcards! Diego was SO excited! I am going to try to get ours off this week.
