In honor of Independence Day, the ladies from Mom Loop and I are celebrating with a showcase of ways that our children (and yours) display independence.
From walking to talking to cutting their own food (shown above) it is such a proud moment when your child shows independence! B is wanting to do more and more on his own lately like picking out his own clothes (eek!) and N is learning to conquer the stairs right now. So fun!
Can't wait to see what everyone shares! Link up below and Happy 4th of July!
Very nice utensil skills in the picture! Not only using utensils, but using two of them at once. :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes it is hard to let them pick out their own clothes...and then wear them outside the house.
That is so cute! What a great picture. I don't think my older boys have that much control.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't tried a knife yet! I wish he was interested in dressing himself.
ReplyDeleteLittle Man is working on holding the railing on the stairs, too. He tries to put on his shoes. His velcro came undone the other day and he attached it himself. :) Happy they are becoming independent, but sad to see them grow up sooo fast. Have a wonderful day, Nicole. Thanks for the link up!

I love when they start using utensils well. My twins try but they aren't really there yet.
ReplyDeleteNo pics or blog posts to go with mine, but my 4 and 5 year old have been working on pouring their own beverages. I have a small little pitcher that I pour the milk into and then they fill their own cups. We are all enjoying it...and somehow there seems to be less spilling!
ReplyDeletewow...so funny! I just did a post yesterday and mentioned that my daughter is gaining new skills...she is cutting a banana herself. I will link it up!
ReplyDeleteI have an acquaintance who's girls are 11, 8, and 6. They are always dressed in beautiful coordinating outfits and with lovely elaborate hairstyles (tiny braids, curls, etc.). She mentioned recently how exhausting it is to prepare them all for the day every morning and I thought, "Why not let them do it themselves? They may not look as polished, but they will look like themselves." Of course, my daughter is 10 and often dresses like a hobo (like plaid short with striped shirt and mismatched knee socks). But I don't care. Much. As long as she is modestly dressed and happy, I keep my mouth shut. My mom didn't like my "fashion" choices either. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link-up!
Wow- that i so great B is learning to use a knife and for early on! Looks like he has great form too!!Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great picture of independence. Isn't it so hard to let them feed themselves at first. They are such a mess! But man it really frees you up to eat your own food before it grows cold.
ReplyDeleteSo cute. My little one wants to cut his own food so badly and I won't let him just because it takes SO much time!
