Baby/Toddler Activity - Pom Poms and Ice Cube Tray

N, 18 months, loves this pom pom and ice cube tray activity. She puts one pom pom in each section which is a great introduction to one to one correspondence.
The goal is for her to eventually put them in going left to right and top to bottom, but I think we are a ways away from that. After she can do that though we will add some matching, patterning, and sorting with the ice cube tray.

This is a favorite at my house. Target has those sparkly tassel mini pom poms in the dollar spot and the kids love them! they stick in the hair well, which they love. At that point though, they are all over the house! :)

  2. My little girl loves pom poms and this would be a fun activity for her. Now if I can just keep them out of her mouth!

Just wanted to share: We are regular church goers, and finding ideas/toys to keep Little Mister (23months) quiet and entertained for an hour at a time (on mat) can often be a challenge! I use pom-poms and an egg carton, similar to your idea here. Also I have reused an old drink tin (actually its hard cardboard with a plastic, easy to remove, lid). I cut a slot in the bottom and kept the lid for the other end. I've cut a heap of shapes from felt and he plays "money box" with them.
    Thanks again for sharing :)

  4. This is a great idea. I've been wanting to use an activity like this that use something that my child wouldn't choke on. I think this could work! Thanks for sharing!
