Inside Water Play

Too hot or cold to go outside?
Need something for your child to do while you cook or clean?
This is the perfect thing!

Materials: Shower curtain liner, water toys

Spread out a shower curtain liner in your kitchen (or over any tile). Fill up a few bowls or buckets with water and give your child kitchen utensils or water toys to play with. Clean up is a cinch. Just take the toys off of the liner and fold the corners in toward the middle and take it outside to shake the water off and let it dry.

B is a HUGE fan of this activity and it keeps him busy for a long time. His favorite things to use with the water are kitchen utensils like measuring cups, ladles, spoons, strainers, etc. He usually spends the most time transferring water from bowl to bowl. Oh and make sure to tell your child to keep the water in the bowls. It won’t ALL stay in the bowls but I made the mistake of not mentioning it and B was just pouring it out onto the shower liner for fun.

  1. oh what a great idea! my daughter always wants to go outside to play at her water table, but this is a good way to supervise her indoors while I make supper/etc. Thanks for sharing!
