I found the idea for a poster board car mat at Frugal Fun for Boys. She has her boys spend time creating and coloring the car mat and then they have hours of fun driving on it with their cars.
B wasn't as interested in coloring the mat with me as I hoped he would be. He did have a great time driving his cars to school and through the Mcdonalds drive through. I love how inexpensive and easy this activity was to prepare and how many ways it can be adapted to your child's interests (trains, airplanes, barbies, animals on a farm, etc.)!
oo very fun! We will have to try this very soon!
ReplyDeleteWe do something very similar, but on paper that we then place under one of those clear plastic desk protectors. That way you can use play dough on them also:

I used to do this when I was young. But I used a chalkboard so I could create all kinds of unique roads and such. I absolutely loved this! I'm hoping my son will do this with me when he gets older.
ReplyDeleteSo much fun! I love Sarah's blog!
