End of the School Year Traditions

For us Californians, school is just wrapping up but I know that others have already closed their classroom doors.  The cool thing is that these ideas work for the beginning of a school year or the end!

Crepe Paper Door

M (4.5) loved when we "taped" off her door in crepe paper!  We did this for the first day of school and, most recently, for the last day of school.  She was super excited to open her door in the morning and start the day with a super hero burst!

Chalkboard Fun

On the first day of school, I had M write her name on a chalkboard I picked up at the craft store.
It's a cute way to document her writing and mark the first day of school!

Then...

We had to mark the last day of school, too!
Have them write their name again, just to see how things have changed (for example,  M mastered lowercase letters this year!).

Oh, The Places You'll Go!

I picked up a copy of Dr. Suess's Oh, The Places You'll Go and I've had each of her preschool teachers (two teachers from her two years there) sign the book.  I plan on doing it with every teacher, each year, and what an awesome gift it'll be when she graduates!

Do you have any fun end of the year (or first of the year!) traditions?

  1. Awwww that is SO sweet. Our little boy starts school this year and I absolutely LOVE the idea with the paper across the door. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Great traditions. My daughter is super sad that the school is over, but she is surely enjoying her summer camp!

  3. I also did the book idea. I had my son's preschool teacher and the assistant write in it. We already treasure what they wrote!
