Preschool Pop Games (Giveaway)

My friends over at Learning Resources sent me this Preschool Pop Games Bundle to play with the kids. The minute it came in the door, the kids were anxious to dive in and give it a try. The way it is packaged is unlike any other game we have so it added to their curiosity. 

How to Play: 

• Spin the spinner and take that number of bubbles out of the container. 
• If you are playing Pop for Colors, you name the color and the object. If you are playing Pop for Shapes, you name the object and the shape. If you are playing Pop for Counting, you name the number on the bubble or count the items on the bubble. If you are playing Pop for Rhyming, you name the object and say something that rhymes with it. 
• Keep the bubbles that you get right. 
• If you get a POP bubble, then put all of your bubbles back in the container (putting the POP aside). 
• The first player to get 10 bubbles wins! Or the play all the way through the entire container and the player with the most bubbles wins. 

What We Loved: 

• The pieces are durable (even for toddlers)! 
• It is great for ALL ages! My 3 year old was the perfect age for all of the skills, but these games can be extended for older children and also used with young toddlers.  
• Each game is played the same way which the children grew comfortable with, but the focus on a new skill adds a new twist and makes it exciting. 
• It is great for vocabulary development! 

Pop for Colors  is the one I'd recommend using with your toddler (ages 2-4). My 3 year old had a great time naming the colors and objects and my friend's daughter (22 months) loved to look through the bubbles as we named the objects together. Great for vocabulary development! 

Other Ideas: 

• Sort the pictures by color.
• For older children, name the letter sound/letter that the pictures start with. Sort them by beginning letter sound. 
• Sort the pictures into two piles - things you like and things you don't or things that you eat and things you don't. 

Pop for Shapes is also geared toward 2-4 year olds. This game is also a great vocabulary builder and you can see their confidence building as they are successful naming the shapes and collecting the bubbles.

• Sort the pictures by shape.
• Sort the pictures by color. 
• For older children, name the letter sound/letter that the pictures start with. Sort them by beginning letter sound. 
• Sort the pictures into two piles - things you like and things you don't or things that you eat and things you don't. 

Pop for Rhyming is fun for 3-6 year olds. Rhyming with real words and even silly words had my kids giggling. 

• Sort the pictures into piles that rhyme. 
• For older preschoolers, give them a handful of pictures and ask them how you could sort them (piles of animals, food, etc.)

Pop for Counting is also great for 3-6 year olds. Identifying and counting numbers adds a challenge to the game. 

Other Ideas:

• Match the numerals to the number of objects.
• Put the numbers in order from least to greatest. 

So much fun and learning to be had with these games! We've been enjoying them over and over again.
