We LOVE the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault!
We decided to make our own Chicka Chicka Tree.
Materials: toilet paper tubes, green construction paper, tape, letter stickers
This is a great time to sneak in a little cutting practice. Have your child cut out the leaves.
- I only ended up using 3 tubes. On the top and bottom tubes, cut 4 slits (only on one end of the tube) and bend them outward.
- Tape the tubes together.
- Tape the green leaves to the top tube's bent pieces.
Decorate the tree with letter stickers.
Retell the story.
Say the names of the letters as you stick the stickers on.
Point to the letters on the tree and say their sound.
Point to the letters on your tree as you read the book.

I love the way you put those leaves on the trees. I never would have thought to do it like that. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks. I like that it makes it quick to assemble. =)
DeleteWhat fun! The trees came out so well!
