Getting my kids to pick up their toys is much harder than convincing them to help me clean. B and N love to "clean" up with wipes and B has even started skating around on them to "clean" the floor.
B loves to spray and wipe the windows with vinegar and water which is great for strengthening the hand muscles used to write.
We've also tried to make picking up fun by using tongs and having a race.

We've tried chore charts with varying degrees of success (right now, that degree is low). But letting them have ownership over a certain task really works best for us. tlovell05 at yahoo dot com
ReplyDeleteWe try to do something fun after clean up time, like story time or make a special snack. It's good motivation. My little Sassyfras washes her hands and helps me put the silverware away when the dishwasher is finished. She does a great job. Little J, 7, helps swiffer the hardwood floors. You can remove one link in the mop handle and make it just right for little ones.
