You can get your kids involved in household chores by asking them to sort different things.
This has been a brilliant discovery for me. You can keep your kids entertained, learning, and helping all at the same time!
So far we've tried sorting:
Socks
(brown/black, colors/white, big/small)
Silverware
(forks/spoons, B's silverware/ours)
Towels
(big/small, by color)
Coins
I'd love to hear your sorting ideas! Leave me a comment below.
Oh my goodness~! I wish I would of had you when Ben was a baby.. Such great ideas you have from birth to toddlers..or even older with somethings.
ReplyDeleteI tell all the mom's that I know about your blog and tell them they have to visit to gather all the ideas you have for them for their children.
Ben is learning how to sort the clothes.. whites, colored and darks.. Ben is 4. His mom bought 3 cylinder shaped baskets to sit in the laundry room and she has a sign for each color ~ taped on the basket. He is doing a great job sorting. Teaching children how to be organized is so important.
I have an idea for you~ Not much storage at Tracie's house , Ben's mom. It's time to put summer clothes away and bring out the winter. Ben sleeps in a full bed ~ I took the mattress off and layed all his summer clothes flat on top of the box springs. Then I put the mattress back on top of the box springs. Ta Ta,,,you don't feel the lumps and it's a great place to put the summer or winter clothes. Plus if you are going on vacation where it's warmer than where you live you just have to lift up the mattress and there is the swim suits, shorts, shirts.light jackets... This is what I used to do when I had children at home.. I do it for myself , I have a Queen size bed and I now have all my summer stuff stored under my mattress. I put all my husbands summer stuff under the guest bedroom's queen mattress. It has worked for many years for me...and thought I would pass it onto someone with a very clever mind. ta ta for now..annieptigger@aol.com
ReplyDeleteMy 4 year old empties almost the entire dishwasher every day. We moved all our everyday dishes to a bottom cabinet and bought organizers so things would fit. There are usually only about 5 things left in the washer that are glass or go up to high for him. My 3 year old can do it as well but loses interest faster. We also actually have them load their dishes as well. They even know to scrape the plate into the trash first.
ReplyDeletemittens by size and color, hats by size and color - throw a little dress up party after it, containers - by type (paper, glass, tin) and shape, etc.
ReplyDeleteI need to get JDaniel to help me with the laundry.
